As the winter nights draw in, it’s not surprising many kids are keen to abandon outdoor sports for computer games. 

In a groundbreaking new initiative, Southwark Council is using sports simulation games on the Nintendo Wii console to encourage children to take up the same activities in real life.

Football fights stop music

Aggressive football fans are scaring off musicians who perform in a pub in Oval.

Irish folk singer William Barr is refusing to sing in his usual Sunday slot because of escalating violence from the Scottish football team supporters.

The Sunday late night music sessions have run for as far back as residents can remember, and regulars like Barr have gained a loyal fan-base. But this is all changing due to the rowdy behaviour of the football fans.

Musician Greg Mckneally, 31, is missing his slot too: “I don’t want to take the risk.”
